Hula Birthday Aubrey!

On March 3rd, Aubrey turned 6 years old. We had a Luau with all her friends to celebrate. It was so much fun. Here are some of the pictures as proof.

You Look Familiar, Haven't I Seen You Somewhere Before?

On Sunday we had our friends Max and Dianna and their kids over for dinner. We had so much fun visiting with them. I have to tell you the story of Max & Dianna and Steve & Allyson and why we were destined to be friends, because it is just too unbelievable.

We met Max and Dianna about 10 or 11 years ago when they moved into our neighborhood. But the story really starts several years before that.

Rewind to September 1993. Steve and I just met the night before. We were on our first date which consisted of exploring Logan cave with a group of friends who had set us up. While we were in the cave we happened upon another group of people. As we were passing them we thought it would be funny to start talking in another language (why that's funny, I don't particularly know). So we made up some gibberish language and were pretending to be talking to each other and to the other group in this language. Well, the other group started answering us back in their own made up language. It was funny. Ha, ha. We laughed and went our separate ways.

Now, fast forward several years. I don't know how many. I'm guessing 7-8 maybe nine years later. Steve and Max are business partners. They are working up Logan canyon. They drive past the cave. Steve mentions to Max that that is where we had our first date. Max says he has been to Logan cave and when he and his friends went, there was a group of people there and they started talking in this made up language and Max and his friends started talking in their own made up language. And Steve was like no way dude! When was that? And Max figured it was around September 1993. So that was our first encounter with Max.

But the story doesn't end there.

Dianna and I were with some friends at our friend Cammy's house. This was probably just a few years ago. We were sitting around her kitchen table. Cammy's husband Aron turns on the TV and sound system downstairs and is shaking the entire house. We were commenting about it and I told the story of our first apartment, after we were married. It was 1995. Steve and I were newlyweds. We were living on the 2nd floor of an apartment building sandwiched between the girl upstairs who played her music too loud and the couple downstairs with the sub woofer who played their movies too loud. Our apartment was constantly vibrating from all the noise. It really made me crazy.

Well I'm telling this story and then Dianna asks where our apartment was. I told her. Then she asks if Steve ever went up to the girls apartment with a broom in his hand to complain. So I tell her yeah, he did. One day we had just had enough and the girl was playing her music so loud. Steve was using the broom to bang on the ceiling. After he did that, the girl turned her music up even louder, which really made Steve mad. So he went stomping up there with the broom in his hand to ask her to turn it down.

You've probably already guessed the ending. Yep. That girl was Dianna.

So, all those years later, we found out that our paths had crossed before. Funny how life works that way. Just to make the story even more interesting. When we decided on where we were going to build our new house and we were telling Max and Dianna, we found out that her brother and his family live in our neighborhood. Hmmm, small world.

Here are some pictures of our visit with them on Sunday:

And this is where I ended up. AFTER 11 bounces I must add.

Monday Morning Musings - Got Milk?

OK, ya know how last Friday I did a post about my 500th post? Well, it was late when I did it so I was in a hurry, and then I got all ready for bed and got in bed and while I was lying there, I was thinking. And I thought, I think I just made the title of my post, "Well, That Was Anti-Weather". But I was too tired to get up and look. See I had this feeling that I said it was Anti-climatic instead of anti-climactic. So, I woke up Saturday morning and sure enough, there it was. My anti-weather post. I looked up anti-climatic and there is a definition for it in the Urban Dictionary that is the same as anti-climactic in a for real dictionary. And there are plenty of references on Google to people using anti-climatic in the same way I did. The problem is, I don't know how stupid those people are. So therefore I am changing the title on that post to read correctly.

Speaking of anti-weather, HELLO! Why is it SNOWING!?!?!?!?

We have been sick around here for 4 weeks. FOUR WEEKS! But thankfully I woke up Saturday feelin' mighty fine. YES! I was so excited all day because I wasn't sick anymore. None of my kids are sick either, except Addy who has the terrible hacking cough we all have experienced. Like I said, I was so happy all day Saturday because I thought we were finally on the downhill slide. That was until Zac woke me up in the middle of the night Saturday because he had thrown up all over his bathroom. And when I say all over, I really mean ALL OVER. Poor boy. I was freakin' out 'cause I knew we were all all going to get sick and start puking our guts out too. But so far we have all held, and Zac has not been a repeat offender. KNOCK ON WOOD! knock.

Ya know how I stopped drinking milk? I think it has been well over a year now since I did. And I don't even eat ice cream anymore. I really don't. Now that I have been off of milk for so long, I get so sick when I drink it or eat ice cream. The thought of drinking milk makes me want to wretch. So way back when, I bought a huge honkin' bottle of calcium pills to take. I have taken like, maybe 5 of them. I just, I don't know, I just don't take 'em. So being that I was sick for so long, I started thinking, "Hmmm, I wonder if a calcium deficiency could lead to a weakened immune system?" So I looked it up. Uhhh, yeah. A calcium deficiency can lead to a lot of problems, all of which I seemed to be experiencing. Including a weakened immune system. I was reading all the problems that can result in a lack of calcium. Really, I was like, yep, yep, yep, got that one too. ARGHHHH! So I went out that day and bought caramel calcium chews because I thought those would be a little easier for me to want to take. I feel like such an idiot. Like they don't teach you in elementary school the importance of calcium. DUH!

Why is it that I can't buy bananas without Addison peeling every single one of them? Seriously. She thinks it's a game.

Flashback Friday - Kristy, This One's For You

I dedicate this post to my beautiful sister Kristy. Kristy, I was thinking about you last night as I watched The Office. It was about enough to make me pass out, so I know you were probably passed out cold on your living room floor and missed half of the show. Sorry. This picture was taken at my parents house in Dallas at Thanksgiving in 2003. It features the likes of Emily, Scott, Tia and Kristy.

Oh, and Kristy, to view the rest of what you missed last night, click here.

Well, That Was Anti-Climactic

AHHHHH!!!!
I so forgot to say that my last post, was my 500th post!
Happy late 500 post day to me!

The One With The Island, The One With The "Singers", and Mr. Squarepants Himself

Bada-ching! Oh, yeah. I'm lovin' Lost this season. As much as it annoyed me in the past, I'm glad I stuck it out and stayed with the program. Anyhoo, last night's Lost was so goody goody gum drops. Steve and I were all snug as bug watching it in bed and at the very end I was sitting up yelling at the TV, "NO SAWYER! YOU LOVE THE OTHER ONE NOW! LOOK AWAY! LOOK AWAY YOU FOOL!". And then Steve was like, "You're gonna wake up the kids in this dang echoey house". And then I was like "ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!" 'cause they said Lost wouldn't be on for 2 weeks. Man. 'Cause I'm all like, oh my! They all thought they were going back to save everyone but now everyone has a fine and dandy life and they are gonna come and screw it all up. But then, really they are eventually gonna die if they don't somehow get saved 'cause, well, ya know what happens to the Dharma people. And then it's like OK, do you believe Ben or that Widmore dude? I don't know who to believe. But I do wonder this. What happened to all those filler survivors? Ya know. The ones I always laughed at when they showed them, cause you have no idea who they are. Where were they during all the flashes? Hum? Where have they been the last 3 years? Huh? Steve always tells me not to put too much thought into Lost, but HELLO!

I'm thinkin' American Idol SUCKS this season. (oooh, I said a bad word)(we are not allowed to say the suck word at our house) But it does. It sucks. (I feel so dirty now). It just makes me mad because it is like my favorite show and, I don't know. I don't know. I mean, we didn't watch Tuesday's Idol because it was Aubrey's B-day and, well, I was a little busy. Sixteen 6 year olds runnin' around screamin'. But that's off the subject. We finally watched 1/2 of it last night and I really have no burning desire to watch the rest, or the result show for that matter. I think the judges picked some really...bad...people this year to put through. I think there are some people they didn't put through that they should have. I don't think it's fair how they do the groups and then only 3 people can go through from each group. 'Cause what if one group has 6 really good singers and one group has none? What then? I don't know. We will have to see. We will just have to see. Hopefully it will get better soon.

I never used to let my kids watch Spongebob. I'd never really seen it, so I didn't really have a reason. I just like to enforce my parental abilities by subjecting them to my will. But for some reason, the past few months, they have started watching it and I haven't stopped them. And ya know what? It's actually pretty funny. I watch it with them all the time and I laugh my head off. In church on Sunday, one of the kids in my Primary class leaned over to me and said, "I like to watch Spongebob. I'm not supposed to, but I like to. Because he is a sponge. And he is square. And he wears pants." Do you think it's bad that my 2 year old goes around saying, "Watch Spongebob!" all the time? Am I a bad parent? I mean, it is pretty clever, a sponge, wearing pants! HELLO!

MONDAY'S POST - Monday Morning Musings - The Status Quo

When I do my Monday Morning Musings, I write stuff down that happens during the week, and use that for my musings. I haven't been writing stuff down lately because when it happens I use it as my status on FB. Remember, we went over this before. But since I am using my blog as my journal, once again this is a review, I would like to have some of my statuses on record. So once again, you're gonna get repeats. Here are some of my Facebook stati. (I'm not quite sure how to say or spell that word.)

2/27: Allyson says so long Norman Gentle. You made me laugh. I'll miss you....

2/26: Allyson has a bird stuck in my chimney and it's really FREAKIN' me out. What if it gets in my house? Why did Steve have to go to work so early? BAH!

2/25: Allyson 's 2 year old is eating marshmallows off the floor. The ones she dropped there last night. Me, I'm just glad she is cleaning up after herself.

2/24: Allyson is watching iCarly with her girls.

2/23: Allyson did not engage her son in a burping contest at the dinner table. Please. I am much too refined for that.

2/22: Allyson sometimes wonders if her husband is feigning cluelessness just so she won't ask him to do stuff.

This was a good one and subsequently resulted in 24 very long comments from others (me? controversy? say wah?):
2/20: Allyson is going to stop paying her mortgage so the rest of y'all can pay it for her. That is what America's all about, right. Woo hoo! Go Socialism!!!

2/17: Allyson is tired of the coughing attacks & the consequences of coughing attacks after birthing 4 children. Just keepin it real people, just keepin it real. Now move along.

House Of Pain

In case you haven't noticed, it has been an entire week since I have blogged. Where did the last week go? I meant to blog everyday. And I had something to blog about everyday. But this is how it has been.

We have been sick here at our house for
3 WEEKS
Uno, dos, tres. Right before we got sick, I was just thinking how nice it has been that we have gone all winter without one trip to the doctor and zero ear infections. That's what I get for thinkin', I guess.

We have this sinusey, congestioney, coughey, headachey nastyness going on. And we will start to get over it and be feelin' all good and stuff, and then it hits us again. And again. And again. Steve is the only one who hasn't had it. Probably because he is never home. (I'm not complaining, I am so glad he has work, knock on wood)(maybe that was the problem when I thought we hadn't been sick all winter. I didn't knock after)(dang).

I think this week has been my worst week out of all the three. I was so excited last weekend because I finally felt like I was kickin' it and I was going to be all well and stuff. Then I started feeling not so hot, and a lot like snot (I just couldn't pass up a little rhyme opportunity) Sunday and it has just been downhill from there. I have no energy. It takes everything I have just to get the stuff done that HAS to be done. Just standing makes me all tuckered out. Like I said, I meant to blog everyday, but I just couldn't do it. My normal bed time is somewhere around 11, 12, 1. I have been passed out cold every night this week by 9:30. I think the last time I went to bed before 10 I was probably 12 years old. And whenever I get sick like this I get vertigo which always adds to the fun.

Wahhhh, wahhhh, wahhhhh. OK, enough of the baby crying, complaining, blobity blob. What I'm trying to say is....I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I'm just sayin', there's a reason why I haven't been blogging. And it's a good reason. But this is the deal-e-o. I am going to do a weeks worth of posts today. MMM, WCW, FF, I might even throw in a TT. Eh, I don't know about the TT. I'm not in the mood for conflict or contention.

Anywhoo. I'll be back. Today. Several times. So stop by an visit. Yeah, I meant to say "an" visit. 'Cause that's how I said it in my head. And right now my head is all messed up like, in case you couldn't tell already. I should just stop now.

Flashback Friday - Bestest Buds

This is a picture of Aubrey and Austin taken in 2004. They are such little tiny cuties. Before we moved, Austin lived across the street from us. He and Aubrey were the bestest of buds. They played together everyday and went to pre-school together for 2 years. Austin's mom told me that Austin was sad on Valentines Day this year because he didn't know who his Valentine would be because he was going to marry Aubrey.

WebCam Wednesday - Who's Kid Is This Anyway?

That's Emily for you. She is so weird. I have no idea where she gets it from. Must be from Steve's side of the family.
