Ladies And Gentlemen - It Is My Pleasure To Bring You The Return Of MONDAAAAY....MORNINNNNNG.....MUUUUSINNNNGS!

So, being the fabulous wife I am, I surprised my husband with tickets to see Glenn Beck live on his Christmas Sweater tour. It was so good and we had such a nice time. It was our first date since August, if you don't count all those long "date nights" we spent working on the house. After the program ended Steve and I high tailed it out of there and practically ran to our car, trying to avoid the traffic. We did great. We got in the car in record time. I looked at the clock on the dashboard as soon as Steve turned the car on. It said 10:02 PM. We pulled out of the parking space and drove about 5 feet. Then we stopped and didn't touch the gas pedal again until the clock on the dash read 10:36. At which time we were able to slowly nudge our way out of the parking lot. All I have to say is, if you are going to design a parking lot that big, you should have more than 1 exit. Seriously.

I am trying to talk Steve into going before Congress and saying something along these lines, "I am here on behalf of all Concrete Stainers, and I was wondering, since our economy is in the crapper, umm, could I get some money from the government, which government I know wasn't set up for this purpose and all, but uhhh, well (this is where they whiny 5 year old voice comes in) you gave the banks some money and it's not fair if you don't give the concrete stainers money too and so, well, if you don't give me money too, then I won't play with you anymore!" (huff, puff, arms fold across chest and right foot stomps). I think it's ridiculous what our government is turning into. I can't even watch the "news" anymore.

Steve and two of his friends do this thing every week where they each make their picks of who they think will win the football games. It is some very serious thinking they do before they make their selections. Which players are out this week, this team has won this many games, blah, blah, blah. So I thought it would be fun for me to make my picks too. This is how I do it. I don't like to be biased by others choices so I don't look at the paper. Steve calls out the teams playing and it takes me about 1/2 a second to tell him who I think will win. I, with my vast knowledge about football, couldn't even tell ya what team I picked to win 10 seconds after I picked them. Well, HA! HA! I always come within a point or two of the person who won their little boy game thing. Steve hasn't let me make my picks the last few weeks. Hmmmm, I wonder why that is?

I am not a foofy person. I never have been. Just ask my mother, who tried for my entire growing up years to make me that way. I just don't like foof. And I like to just get things done the easiest and fastest way possible. When it comes to my children's hair, it's no different. No foof, easy, fast. That is why I have shaved Zac bald for most of his life. And that is why I cut my girls hair short. But now, for some reason, my kids all feel like expressing their individuality and they won't let me do what I wanna do when it comes to their hair. They have all refused haircuts for months now. Finally on Saturday Steve and I told Zac that either I was going to shave him bald or I would take him somewhere to get his hair cut. We went and got it cut and he looks very handsome, indeed. Well for the past 2 days Aubrey has been begging me to braid her hair. So I broke down this morning. After receiving a tutorial from this blog, I mustered up as much courage as I could, armed myself with elastics, a spray bottle and a comb, and went to work. How bad of a mom would you think I am if I told you this is the first time I have braided one of my girls hair? Well, it was. And it was actually kind of fun. Here is the finished product.

I thought I would throw in a few more pictures of the house. This is the living room. In our old house, we had to bend the top of this Christmas tree over so it would fit and there was no room for the angel on top. It looks a little small for this house.

This is taken standing where the Christmas tree is and looking the other direction. We still need to paint the big steel beam. We just can't agree on what color to paint it. Steve thinks fire engine red, I think black lacquer or metallic silver to match the railing. What do you think?

My Prayer: One Nation Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty And Justice For All

Last night Emily asked if she could stay up to watch the 10:00 news so she could see who won the election. I said, "Emily, there is no way they are gonna know by 10:00 who won". Well, I guess I was wrong. I was so tired last night I feel asleep at like 8:30 watching the coverage. I woke up about 30 minutes later when my phone rang. It was my sister Lauren calling to tell me that Obama won. I was so dazed and confused. I was like, "What? How do you know? What time is it?" I looked at the TV and sure enough, people were cheering and celebrating. I did feel a little cheated because at that point my vote hadn't even been counted yet. But oh well. Apparently my little old vote wasn't necessary.

As you might know....I did not vote for Obama. I voted for John McCain. I had my reasons. You know what they are. But it's OK. I am so very thankful that I live in the United States of America. I am grateful for the experience I had to lend my support to the person I felt was the best candidate. I am so thankful that I was able to go yesterday and cast my vote for who I wanted to serve as President of my country. We can't all be winners all the time.

Barack Hussein Obama was chosen as the 44th President of our country. Although his opinions differ from mine, I will give him the respect and honor that are rightfully his as leader of our free nation. I will pray for him. I will pray that he can make the decisions and do what needs to be done to keep our country free, safe and prosperous.

I hope he will be the kind of president he said he would be. I hope he will do what is best for our country. I hope he will walk the middle line and bring a little love to the two parties. I hope I was wrong. I really do.

Although the outcome of the election last night was not as I had hoped, I couldn't help but thrill a little at watching history being made. This has been a unprecedentedly historic election. We almost had a woman candidate for the presidency. We did have a woman vice presidential candidate. And we elected a black man to the office of The President of the United States of America. No matter what my feelings are for Obama's politics, I can't help but be excited at the strides our country has made since the time of my mothers childhood, when she and Obama would not have been allowed to take a drink from the same drinking fountain.

There was a part of me last night that was just relieved. Relieved that the whole thing was finally over. It has kind of been a ugly path to get here. Ugly, but I think necessary. I think it was important that both sides were able to have their feelings and opinions heard. But I hope now we can all just be quite. Just take a deep breath and be still and enjoy a peaceful holiday season with the ones we love and hold dear.

Just Some Stuff I Thought Was Interesting - Verrryyyy In-ta-rresting (said while bringing my hands in front of me and rolling my fingers together)

“I have talked face to face with the godless communist leaders. It may surprise you to learn that I was host to Mr. Kruschev for a half day when he visited the United States, not that I’m proud of it. I opposed his coming then, and I still feel it was a mistake to welcome this atheistic murderer as a state visitor. But, according to President Eisenhower, Kruschev had expressed a desire to learn something of American Agriculture — and after seeing Russian agriculture I can understand why. As we talked face to face, he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism. After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren will live under freedom he arrogantly declaired in substance:

“ ‘You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.

“And they’re ahead of schedule in their devilish scheme.”

(Ezra Taft Benson “Our Immediate Responsibility.” Devotional Address at Brigham Young University. circa 1968.”) [access the audio file on this page.]

"If America is destroyed, it may be by Americans who salute the flag, sing the national anthem, march in patriotic parades, cheer Fourth of July speakers - normally good Americans who fail to comprehend what is required to keep our country strong and free - Americans who have been lulled away into a false security." (April 1968, General Conference Report)

"If the Gentiles on this land reject the word of God and conspire to overthrow liberty and the Constitution, their doom is fixed, and they 'shall be cut off from among my people who are of the covenant' (1 Nephi 14:6; 3 Nephi 21:11, 14, 21; D&C 84:114-115, 117). (God Family, Country, p. 345.) (Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson p. 618-119.)

Thinkin' Thursday - A Much Needed Laugh

The other night night I watched the The Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner on TV. It was the best thing I have watched on TV in a long time. I thought it was great to hear McCain and Obama making jokes and laughing at one another. It was a much needed break from all the craziness that surrounds this election year. I think it probably did the two of them a great deal of good to pause for a minute and take time to laugh. I think it was good for the rest of us to see also. Did you miss it? Click here to watch videos of the event.

Thinkin' Thursday - My View In Lieu

In lieu of a separate Thinkin' Thursday post, I left my opinion on my Tuesday post in the comment section. Click here to read. And for all of you who apologized for your comments being so long......well......no need to apologize.

Thinkin' Thursday - Sit Right Down On Your FannieMae And Have A Listen

Wow! It has been over a week since I blogged. I have been a very bad, bad blogger. Sorry.

OK, it's like this. I wasn't sure I wanted to continue to be all political with my Thinkin' Thursdays. I am just so sick and tired of it all. I really am. But then I went to church and this letter from the First Presidency of my church was read:

As citizens we have the privilege and duty of electing office holders and influencing public policy. Participation in the political process affects our communities and nation today and in the future.

Latter-day Saints as citizens are to seek out and then uphold leaders who will act with integrity and are wise, good, and honest. Principles compatible with the gospel may be found in various political parties. (emphasis added)

Therefore, in this election year, we urge you to register to vote, to study the issues and candidates carefully and prayerfully, and then to vote for and actively support those you believe will most nearly carry out your ideas of good government.

The Church affirms its neutrality regarding political parties, platforms, and candidates. The Church also affirms its constitutional right of expression on political and social issues.

Sincerely yours,
Thomas S. Monson,
Henry B. Eyring, Dieter F. Uchtdorf The First Presidency

So I decided to actively support those I believe will most nearly carry out my ideas of good government.

Right now, I'm real tired. I said it like this "I'm reeel TY-rd" with a thick accent. That's how I say it when I'm really really tired. So to be quick about it, I am just posting this video. Then I am going to bed. For more info about the political neutrality of my church clickity click click right here. I said that like this, "rawt hare". That also means I am TY-rd. I really should just shut up and go now. Enjoy the film!

Thinkin' Thursday - Remember

9/11. I had the TV on this morning and the station I was listening to was replaying the broadcast from the morning of September 11, 2001. As I listened to and watched those events being replayed, I was hit with a rush of emotion. Tears came to my eyes. All the feelings that I had on that day, 7 years ago, were present today. What a very sad, scary time for our country. That was before Al Queda and Osama Bin Laden were words that everyday Americans knew how to use in a sentence. Think back. Remember what it was like. On that day. I can remember sitting in my kitchen eating breakfast and watching as newscasters speculated on what happened. Then the realization that came while the world watched as the second plane hit the second tower. And then the horror I felt as I watched both towers fall. Americans were glued to their televisions. Another plane? The pentagon? There are still more planes in the air, unaccounted for? What is going on? Can you remember how you felt?

In just a few months, our country will select a new President to lead us. A man who will stand in front of the world as The President Of The United States Of America. What kind of message will that man send to our enemies and the people who hate us most? To the kind of people who would feel it and honor to give their lives in the shedding of innocent blood.

As you make your decision on who to vote for in November, please think about this. Read about the candidates. Find out about their knowledge and views of foreign policy. Pray that we as individuals and as a country will make the best decision for our future.

May God bless the families of those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. And may he bless the families of those who's lives have been lost since then, in service to our country.

Thinkin' Thursday - Read My Lipstick

I am ever so very tired so this is gonna be quick and easy (yeah, easy until I start getting comments on it).

YES! If there is going to be a woman in the White House I am glad it will be Sarah Palin. I think McCain made an excellent choice.

I have not stopped laughing at Democrats (except for the ones near and dear to my heart, I have much better reasons to laugh at you) & the media since she was announced as VP pick.

Have you heard the kinds of things they are saying? They are just grasping at straws. It cracks me up. Seriously.

The one that kills me the most is when they talk about her lack of experience. I..dah..wa...a...ya...tha...arrrgh....I don't even know what say. How.....how....how....what....I mean....does that make any sense to you what so ever?

Seriously.

I thought this comparison chart was interesting.

Let's see......what else has me laughing tonight? I was listening to a commentator after McCain gave his speech. He was talking about how McCain was going on and on about being a war hero. He said something like: Democrats won't give him a hard time about that like Republicans did to John Kerry. I can't even type I'm laughing so hard. John Kerry's a war hero because....????

Oops. There it goes. My Thinkin' Thursday went and got all political again.

Thinkin' Thursday - What Happens In Forks Stays In Forks

Our local library is having this thing where you write your prediction of what you think is going to happen in Breaking Dawn. You do that, get entered into a drawing and you could win a copy of the book. I turned in my prediction the other day. I said:

"My Prediction is that Bella will grow up, get a brain, marry Jacob and have cute little wolf babies."

I thought it would be fun to hear your predictions. And since it is Thinkin' Thursday, what do you think will happen????

And since we are on the subject:

Thinkin' Thursday - Much Ado About Nothing

Have you noticed my Thinkin' Thursday's haven't been all that political lately?

So, this very post that you are reading right at this very moment is post #388. That means I am only 12 posts away from a major milestone of 400 posts.

And I was thinkin' , being Thursday and all, I was thinkin' , I wonder how long it will take me to get to 400. I mean, I have been really busy so I haven't been doing much blogging lately (or reading blogs, I will catch up on you all very soon), so it could take a while. But man, I am so close, I wanna be there now. Why? I don't know, cause I got nuthin better to think about.

As that thought was rollin about in me noggin I started to think, ya know, I have a tendency to ramble on about nothing all the time. Remember my 5+ minute ice cream video? So I thought, I bet I could roll out a whole slew of posts real quick like and be at 400 in no time.

And I started to wonder how many days it would take me.

And I started to wonder how many days you think it will take me.

And I though, wow. Blogger has a nifty little polling device I could add to my blog and people could make a guess.

And then I thought, who needs sleep, I think I'll go downstairs and whip up a poll right now.

And here I am.

Rambling again.

So, take the poll. All you silent readers can take it too. I promise it won't kill you.

And now the screen is blurry and I feel like I have a rock in my contact so I think I will shut it up now.

Don't forget to check back often. I'm about to start my bloggin roll. Just as soon as I perform my rock removal and get a little sleep.

Peace out!

Seriously? Did you have to say that?

Freak.

Thinkin' Thursday - I'm Outin' You, Right Here, Right Now

It's like this. I know you're there. I do. You might be slinkin' in here all quite like and not sayin' anything, but I know you're there. I have Google Analytics on my blog. It gives me all kinds of interesting information on who is looking at my blog. One of the things it tells me is not just how many times my blog was looked at, but how many different people looked at it. So you might see the comments that people post and say, oh, there are only about 5 different people reading her blog because there are only about 5 different people who comment on my posts. (thank you to all of you who make me feel validated in life)(not that I rely on your comments for validation, but, well OK, I do)(sigh)

Anyhoo, back to the subject at hand. I usually have between 20-30 different people look at my blog everyday. If I look back over the past month it tells me that 167 different people looked at it. And if I look all the way back to when I first put analytics on there it tells me that there have been 1,372 different people look at my blog. So I happen to know that there are more than 5 of you reading this at this very minute. Well, maybe not at this very minute, but you know what I mean.

So, since it is Thinkin' Thursday, for a few more hours anyway, I am thinkin' it is about time you came out of the closet. Stop your lurking and come on out into the open. I know you want to, you have just been waiting for the right moment to make your presence known. That moment is now.

This is what I'm gonna do. Ya know how tomorrow is Flashback Friday? Well, the very first person who comments on this post, I am going to find a picture of you (I promise to be nice and not put up an embarrassing one) and I am going to use it for my Flashback. Then, I will take all the comments on this post and go in order and feature the each person who commented every Friday in my Flashback. If I don't have a picture of you, I will find one that you are sure to enjoy. If you have found my blog through someone else's blog, tell me who's blog it was and I will feature a picture of them that I am sure you will enjoy (those will be embarrassing). If you don't know me, and I don't know you, and I don't know any of the people you know, and you don't know any of the people I know, I'll come up with something, I promise. (that was a very comma filled sentence)

As I am typing this I have this feeling that the same 5 people are going to be the only one's who comment, with the exception of 1 because she gets mad when I post pictures of her when she was a teenager (Coren). But I am asking you to just be brave and do it. So that I don't look like an idiot for posting this. You owe it to me for keeping you entertained on an almost daily basis.

For those of you who profess not to know how to comment (mom) this is what ya gotta do. At the end of this post, there will be some blue words. One will say comments, with a number by it indicating how many comments there are for this post. Click on the blue comment word. There will be a box for you to type your comment. If you don't have a Google account you can click on Name/URL and it will give you a place to put your name. You can leave the URL field blank. Or if you would like you can click on anonymous and just put your name somewhere in your comment.

OK, I'm gonna be really mad if you don't participate. I think it will be fun to try and come up with pictures for everyone. And it will be such a relief to you to finally say something. Trust me, it will. If I look at my stats tomorrow and see that 25 people looked at my blog and only 10 commented, well.......I don't know what I'll do, but you won't like it.

What are you waiting for? Say something already.

Thinkin' Thursday - G'day Mate!

Global Warming Extremism At It's Best:

ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) has on their website a fun little children's section. One of their games is called "Professor Schpinkee's Greenhouse Calculator". Children can answer a series of questions about their everyday life. The computer then calculates their answers and tells them what age they should die so they don't use more than their fair share of the earth's resources. Seriously. I'm not kidding. It told me I should have died at age 16. Oops, I've now used more than double my fair share! I am a useless, worthless piggy individual. What age should you die? Click here to play the fun game and find out. And then, you can go grab your kids and let them find out when they should die too. It could be a fun family activity.

Thinkin' Thursday - You Spell Potato, I Spell Potatoe

The votes are in. 12 voted for Thinkin' Thursday to stay around. 1 voted for it to disappear.

Alright people. You asked for it. Here it is. I begin this Thinkin' Thursday with some trepidation. But I will give it a go and see how it works out. I know there will be people who will disagree with me and I am worried they will feel like they can't share their opinions. I want everyone to be able to express their thoughts and feelings, so please do. But maybe we can try and do it in a nice way?

This weekend Hilary Clinton will officially drop out of the race for the democratic nomination. I can't believe it, but I am sad. More scared than sad actually. I have made my feelings for BO known before. This is what worries me. And don't go gettin' all in a tizzy Democrats about what I am about to say. I am unabashedly Republican, in case you hadn't figured that out yet. So of course I am gonna want a Republican President in office, right. So just like plug your ears if you have to to make it through this next paragraph.

I am a little nervous about who BO is going to pick as a running mate. Because I have a feeling. A very bad feeling. It might be nothin'. Only time will tell. BO has said in the past that he will not choose Hilary as a running mate. However, I am afraid that some special high up important Democratic people will try and convince him to choose her. I mean, I could be totally off base here, but this is what I think. I think the two of them have made such a mess and a divide of the Democratic party that people are totally split. I think that the Dems will feel that in order to assure a win they will have to put them both on the ticket. And if they do that, I think that they will win. I really do. And I don't like it. Remember, this is my OPINION, and I am entitled to it so like I said, no Freaking out.

That really isn't what my TT is about. This is what it's really about. I'm not going to say anything about the media (who I believe is just an extension of BO's campaign), I will let you make up your own minds.

Can any of you think back to 1992? I know, it was a long time ago. It was the year I graduated from High School. YIKES! That was the year that Vice President Dan Quayle misspelled potato:

Oh my. The media would not let him live it down. They still won't. I just heard someone make a reference to it just a few months ago. It was all over all the news everywhere. People wouldn't stop talking about it.

How often do you hear people talking about this:

HOLY GEOGRAPHY BATMAN! Apparently my teachers lied to me in school. I had no idea we had that many states!

And what about this one:

He wasn't too far off. He only miscalculated by a few thousand, give or take. Actually 12 people died.

And most recently:

What's wrong with this one? Well, I believe, I mean my teachers may have been wrong about this one too, but ummmm, wasn't it the Russian's who liberated Auschwitz?

Why don't we hear about these (and many more blunders) over and over again in the media? Just sumpthin I was wondering about.

Shining Happy People Holding Hands

I have been out of town for the past 4 days. We just got home not long ago. I have been wanting to do this all weekend, unfortunately I was not near a computer. That's a lie. Fortunately I was not near a computer (it was nice to have a break from real life).

I am not a confrontational person. I don't like to argue. I don't like to fight. I like everyone to just get along. I am usually the peacemaker. I don't like what happened last week with my Thinkin' Thursday. Every time I think about it, it make me feel sick.

I don't know who anonymous was. I don't even know that all the anonymous comments were from the same person. On average I have 80-100 different people every week read my blog. It could have been anyone of you. I don't know who you all are but I am sure that most of you are people that I know and care about and love.

I have had a lot of time to think it over the last few days. I have decided that it is time to give my Thinkin' Thursday weekly post a rest. I am not retiring it completely. I might bust one out every once in a while. But when I do they will be much less controversial. I want my blog to be a happy place where everyone gets along.

So I am sorry. I am sorry anonymous, whoever you are. I hope you will forgive me. And everyone else who had to listen to the unfriendliness that took place here in my little corner of the internet, I apologize to you too.

All you need is love, da da dan na da. All you need is love, da da dan na da. All you need is love, love. Love is all you need. Love is all you need. Love is all you need. Love is all you need........love is all you need........

And because I just came up with the title for my post and now this song is going through my head:

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Thinkin' Thursday - Uhhhhh, Did She Just Say What I Think She Said? Cause If She Just Said What I Think She Said......Shoot Girl We In Big Trouble

WOW! What the.....holy......WOW! Arggghhhhh. Seriously. Seriously. Oh my HECK! (you know you've lived in UT too long when you start saying things like oh my heck) Seriously. OK. Welcome to the Socialist States Of America. I have said it before, I will say it again. I am scared. I am really scared for the future of our country. She isn't the first person to suggest such a thing. In just a few months our country is going to choose a new president, and look who we have to choose from. Nice. It scares me. It really does.

So this is what I'm thinkin'. Since when did it become illegal for a company to make a profit? Oil companies are actually making less profit now than they used to. So let's just pretend here. Let's say that my dear sweet hubby, his company starts doing really well and he is in high demand. He finishes concrete floors, by the way. So lets say that he is in high demand and all of a sudden the supply of acid stain starts to run low. People still want him to come do their floors. But those same people who are demanding that he come do their floors, they have put restrictions on where he can go to look for new acid stain. So since demand is high and supply is low and the options open for him to get new stain are becoming more costly, he raises his price too. Well the governing regime sees this and decides to take over his company and his profits. Yeah, I wanna live in a country where that kind of stuff happens.

Did you know that 50 miles off the Florida Keys Cuba and China are drilling for oil? And other countries are looking at setting up rigs in the Gulf Of Mexico? Why don't we just drill for oil there ourselves? Or why don't we drill in Alaska where there is an abundance of oil? Because those are no drill zones established by congress. Here is a quote from a press conference with President Bush in April:

I've repeatedly submitted proposals to help address these problems. Yet time after time, Congress chose to block them. One of the main reasons for high gas prices is that global oil production is not keeping up with growing demand. Members of Congress have been vocal about foreign governments increasing their oil production; yet Congress has been just as vocal in opposition to efforts to expand our production here at home.

They repeatedly blocked environmentally safe exploration in ANWR. The Department of Energy estimates that ANWR could allow America to produce about a million additional barrels of oil every day, which translates to about 27 millions of gallons of gasoline and diesel every day. That would be about a 20-percent increase of oil -- crude oil production over U.S. levels, and it would likely mean lower gas prices. And yet such efforts to explore in ANWR have been consistently blocked.

Another reason for high gas prices is the lack of refining capacity. It's been more than 30 years since America built its last new refinery. Yet in this area, too, Congress has repeatedly blocked efforts to expand capacity and build more refineries.

And now, here is a pretty picture for you to look at:

So, one more thing about the little video up at the top. You know how I have said before that I think that main stream media is slanted and biased? Well, usually when you Google some newsworthy political topic the first few things to come up are for websites like The New York Times or The Washington Post or CNN or something like that. Try googling "Maxine Waters Socializing Oil" (or better yet, click on that blue googling word). It pulls up things like Youtube or various blogs. Hmmmm.......wonder why that is?

Thinkin' Thursday - A Nobel Hero

I have been thinking all day about this very touching story of a woman who saved thousands of Jewish children during the Holocaust. Watch the video to hear her story.

Contrary to how it may appear, I have no personal vendetta with Al Gore. It's just when a person makes it so easy......anyway. Last Thursday I hadn't even planned on doing a Thinkin' Thursday (I needed a break from the week before) but I was in bed and heard that story and HAD to hop right up and run down stairs and post it. Then last night my dear hubby made sure I stayed awake to watch Glenn Beck because he had heard this story on his radio program earlier in the day. After taking Hebrew in high school for two years, I developed a love for the Jewish people and their culture. I have met Holocaust survivors and have done 2 research papers on that tragic event. Steve knew this was a story that I would appreciate. Al just happened to stick his booty in the middle of it.

Thinkin' Thursday - OH HA HA HA HEE HOO HOO HA HA AHHHH YA HA HA HA AHHHH

First of all, what's up with the rating thing at the bottom of all my posts? I have no idea what it is or where it came from. All I'm sayin' is, y'all better give me good ratings.

Second, for my thinkin' Thursday, I just can't stop laughing. See for yourself:

It's just like I always tell my kids, "Sweetie, just because it's on TV doesn't mean it's real".

Thinkin' Thursday - A Whole Lot Of Thinkin' Goin' On

When I woke up this morning, I thought, isn't it May 1st? Why is it snowing? Again.

When I went to the doctor this morning, I thought, why do I still come to this doctor after all these years when he doesn't listen to a thing I say?

When I heard Hillary's plan to tax gas profits, I thought, chalk another one up for communist America.

When I saw this picture, I thought, I don't care how many billions of dollars you have, who takes a picture like this with their daughter?

When Zac said to me ROTGLMBO, I thought, great the text talk has begun. BTW ROTGLMBO means rolling on the ground laughing my butt off, just in case you didn't know.

When I was driving in the car, I thought, why on earth did I teach my kids "The Song That Never Ends"?

When I took all 4 kids to the grocery store today (it was that or eat PB&J for dinner, on rolls because we have no bread), I thought, this is so pleasant, I should bring them all more often.

When I saw Emily washing the cut on her finger over the top of the grapes in the colander, I thought, I guess I shouldn't have left those in the sink to drain.

Thinkin' Thursday - Cult Of Personality

As previously stated on this blog, I belong to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. In other words, I am a Mormon. There has been an awful lot of talk about Mormons on the news lately. I was watching a Dr. Phil the other day and the topic was on the whole polygamy thing goin' on down in Texas. The good Doctor kept referring to them as the "Mormon Cult". After a few minutes of it, I really wanted to go and shake the heck out of my TV. Those people have nothing to do, or no affiliation with the Mormon church. So I got this e-mail from my sister-in-law this morning. I thought it was funny, so I thought I would share it with you, just to clear up any misconceptions.

For those of you who have been watching the news and may have wondered..

Some Mormon women sing...
Some Mormon women dance...
Some Mormon women write scary stories...
Some Mormon women have lots of money and really great hair...
I know hundreds of Mormon women. They do all kinds of different things and live all different kinds of lives.
This woman served as a leader in the Mormon church.
She recently spoke to teenage girls worldwide. She encouraged them to stand up to peer pressure, strengthen their families and serve others.
None of the Mormon women I know look like this...
None of them are marrying off their teenage daughters and-- although some may joke about wanting a sister-wife (preferably one who is really fat & ugly, does bathrooms and changes diapers)--none of them really want to share their husband with anyone.
Furthermore...
Some Mormon guys can throw a ball...
Some Mormon guys yell at the ball...
Some Mormon guys make scary movies...
Some Mormon guys have a lot of money and really great hair...
I know hundreds of Mormon guys. They do all kinds of different things and live all kinds of different lives.
This is one of the leaders of the Mormon church.
Last Sunday he spoke about honoring women, especially mothers, and gave advice to husbands and children about how to treat the women in their lives.
None of the Mormon men I know look like this...
The Mormon men I know are honest and hard-working. They don't cheat, smoke, drink or gamble. And TRUST ME....the last thing any of them want is another wife.
So that was the end of the e-mail, but I just couldn't leave out my most favorite famous Mormon:

And speaking of Mormon women who write scary stories, I just found out from my friend Megan that this movie is coming out on my birthday! You can just tell who each person is playing just by looking at them. I am so excited.

Anyway, I am not trying to make light of a serious situation. I really feel sorry for the women and children of that polygamist compound. My heart goes out to them. Especially the children who have been so brainwashed and have no knowledge of the outside world. I hope that things can work out for them so that they can have somewhat normal lives.

I was going to put some interesting facts about the Mormon church (that actually isn't the name of our church, that is a nickname given to us by people outside of our church) but I have 2 little girls who have been patiently waiting for me to get off the computer so I won't. If you want to know more about the beliefs of our church you can click here.

I did find some interesting facts about our church's humanitarian efforts. Click here to read them.
