How much fun is it having all these boy cousins all around the same age?  More FUN than you would think is humanly possible!  It has been fun watching them together through the years.  I can't believe how much they changed just in the last two pictures that were taken only 9 months apart.

Flashback/Flashforward Friday: Visitors Times Two

Flashback: Dallas Texas 1981ish
Cynthia is on the left in the blue dress above and she is holding David in her arms.  Alisha is in the bottom right corner with the dark blue dress on.  I'm on the front row, third from the left in the blue dress and my mom, Kay, is right above me in the dark blue dress.  I guess blue was the new black that year.  My sister Lauren wasn't born yet.

David, Alisha, Porter

Last Sunday, my Aunt Cynthia (My Dad's Sister) and her son David, were in town visiting my cousin Alisha.   We had them over for dinner.  It was so good to see them all.  Addy was happy to have friends her age to play with.

Aunt Cynthia wanted a picture of our family.  Addy wouldn't be serious so she promised her we could do a silly picture if she would give her a nice picture.  You can see the silly picture below.

Flashback: Dallas Texas 1998
My family with our dear friends, the Hastings.  The Snows and the Hastings used to hang out together all the time when we were growing up.  Lauren and Jessica have been BFF's since birth.  You can see them sitting together in the middle of the couch above.

Flashforward: Utah, July 7th, 2013
We had bonus guests while Aunt Cynthia and here family were here.  Jessica called Lauren to tell her she was passing through on their way from Idaho to Dallas and wanted to stop by to say hi.  So we also got to visit with her and her husband Nate.

We had a fun filled few weeks.  The Sunday before this we said goodbye to my Sister in Law, Teresa, and baby Alaina and that evening welcomed The Hobbs family.  Then the next Sunday we said goodbye to the Hobbs and that evening spent time with more family and friends.  We love all the visitors we get every summer!

Flashback/Flashforward Friday - Rynearson

Flashback: April 2008
Above: Our friend Greg Rynearson, working on the electrical in our new house.
Below: Taking a lunch break in Addy's room.  Addy's room was always the dining room during construction.

Flashforward: June 2013
Greg, Marci, Skip and Jeff Rynearson

The Rynearson's were in our ward when we lived in our old house.  I guess technically they are still in that ward, we are not.  Greg and his sons did all the electrical work in our house.  Skip and Jeff were Steve's scouts and I used to be Jeff's Sunday School teacher.  He just left a few weeks ago to serve a Mission in Ft. Worth Texas, practically my home town.  So if anyone in Texas sees this kid in the red shirt in a few weeks, riding a bike and wearing a white shirt and tie, stop him and say hi!  We had their family over for dinner before Jeff left for the MTC.

Our kitchen is really bright at that time of day.  They should have seen what it was like before we had curtains.

I'm not sure, but I think Skip and Steve are about to hold hands in this picture.

The Saturday before they came for dinner we were able to go to Jeff's farewell party.

Look who I found there.  Can you believe I used to teach this return missionary when he was a Sunbeam? (Sunbeams is a church class for 3 year olds)  I'm pretty sure I was taller than John when he was in my class.  I think.  Either I am abnormally short, or he is abnormally tall.  Or maybe a little bit of both.

We enjoyed spending time with the Rynearson family and we wish Jeff all the luck on his mission in my home state!  He is getting baptized by fire by going there in the middle of summer.  Hint: Keep cool by eating lots of Blue Bell Ice Cream!

Flashback/Flashforward Friday- April Joy, The Girl Who Was Named After Her Mothers First Epidural

Flashback: April's Birthday 2011
April's Surprise 30th Birthday at The Olive Garden

Flashback: April's Birthday 2012
That horrible Nicholas Sparks movie she made me go to.  I wore my PJ's for extra sleeping comfort but somehow I managed to stay awake for the whole thing.

Flashforward: April's Birthday 2013
At the Olive Garden,  celebrating Ape's Birthday two days early because she has someone better to celebrate her real Birthday with now.  We are so original with our choice of restaurants (I won't tell you that our secret society was just there a few weeks before as well).  Our waiter is in the picture with us.  He was very friendly and had a very long story to tell us every time he came to our table.  We had an extra chair at our table and I am really surprised he didn't sit down in it and eat dinner with us.  Before we ordered April and I were having one of our usual disagreements and he said something about not fighting.  April's mom said, "Oh, that's just what they do."  He said, "Oh, you must be sisters."  And we were like, "Yeah, pretty much."

After dinner we had to have dessert.  It was late so we couldn't go to April's favorite cupcake shop.     We didn't have a whole lot of options at that hour so we settled for Krispy Kreme.  And guess what?  They had no glazed donuts.  Yeah, I know.  I said something to the guy about that being illegal.  The dead silence on the other side of the intercom let me know he didn't find me humorous.  If you are wondering why we stick the Birthday girl in the backseat, well, we always stick her in the backseat.  It is her fault for being 1/4 the size of the rest of us and for having no phobias involving small spaces.

Yesterday, April's real Birthday.  We had a Relief Society thing at the church that morning and I was verbally and emotionally threatened by someone saying she wouldn't show up if there wasn't a celebration.  I didn't want to be physically threatened once I got there so I brought a cake.  We all just dug in as you can see.  Who has time for knives and forks and plates and fancy stuff like that?

I had no way of knowing the kind of kindred spirit I would find when this woman moved in down the street from me three years ago.  I feel like I have known her my whole life.  And when she is beating me up, then I really feel like I have known her way too long.  Happy Birthday April.
