"About three things I was absolutely certain.
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him--- and I didn't know how dominant that part might be--- that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."

This is a must read. I just finished it this morning around 1 am. I had never heard of this book until my cousins were telling me about it when we were at a bridal shower. They went on and on about it. I went out to breakfast with a friend of mine a few days later and asked her if she had ever heard of it. She said when she was at girls camp everyone there was reading it. Well my dear mother bought it and started reading it. I saw it in her car and said "AHHH! I want to read that!" and she ever so graciously gave up her copy to me. I started it last Thursday but only got about 3 pages into it. I took it to the doctors office with me on Friday and everyone that saw it stopped me and told me how great it was. I took it to the hospital with me that same day and got the same response. I was excited to read it but really didn't have time that day.
I didn't start reading it again until Saturday and it was so good. I even posted about how I couldn't stop reading it on Monday morning. Then I got to the middle part which I have to admit was a little over the top mushy teenage romance and even though I still enjoyed reading it, it took me a few days to get past that part. Well last I was so exhausted I fell into bed ready to sleep but I thought, I will just read a few pages before I fall asleep. Well HELLO! All the sudden we moved past mushy gushy and by dang if I couldn't stop reading no matter how tired I was. I stayed up 'till 1:00 and finished the last 150 pages.
It is excellent. There are 2 more books in the series that are already published and two more on their way. And they are making a movie about the first book.
It is written for teenagers. It is by an LDS woman although it is not an LDS book. I love it because it is a thrilling love story and it is rated PG. And there are no naughty words. The idea for the book started with a very vivid dream the author, Stephenie Meyer, had one night. This is what she says:
"I know the exact date that I began writing Twilight, because it was also the first day of swim lessons for my kids. So I can say with certainty that it all started on June 2, 2003. Up to this point, I had not written anything besides a few chapters (of other stories) that I never got very far on, and nothing at all since the birth of my first son, six years earlier.
I woke up (on that June 2nd) from a very vivid dream. In my dream, two people were having an intense conversation in a meadow in the woods. One of these people was just your average girl. The other person was fantastically beautiful, sparkly, and a vampire. They were discussing the difficulties inherent in the facts that A) they were falling in love with each other while B) the vampire was particularly attracted to the scent of her blood, and was having a difficult time restraining himself from killing her immediately. I just started the next book in the series (thanks again mommy!). I highly recommend it. If you are like me and the sappy stuff gets on your nerves, just know that it is worth it to stick it out. And for those of you (you know who I'm talkin' about) who thrive on the sap.....ENJOY!
Oh, and FYI. Her third book that just came out, Eclipse, is the book that knocked the last Harry Potter Book out of the #1 best seller spot!
