West Side Sleep Over. Yo.

So last week, April came up with the bright idea of having a camp out in her backyard.  I was in a rather foul mood that day so I may have griped and complained a little.  I did not want to leave the comfort of my own bed to sleep in a tent with 10 bajillion mosquitoes.  Not to mention the fact that right at that exact time something was eating my chickens and everyone elses chickens in the neighborhood nightly.  I frankly didn't want to get eaten alive by mosquitoes or raccoons or coyotes or anything else for that matter.  But my girls would not let me skip out on such backyard fun.  I grumped myself the whole way down the street.  The grumpiness didn't last for long though.  How can it around such and one as these fine ladies?

For some strange reason, Aubrey likes her hot dogs and marshmallows like this.

April was all like, here darling, let me feed you some grapes.  And I was all like, get the heck outta here.  But she was all like, you let me feed you these grapes and act like your enjoying it or I will take you down to china town!  And speaking from experience, being taken down to china town by her is not a very good experience.  So I let her feed me the grapes and I forced a smile.

Like I said, my grumpiness didn't last for long.  They had me laughing from almost the minute I got there.  I even got all excited about sleeping outside with the possibility of being eaten to death.  But then it started lightning really bad and raining so we moved the party into April's house for a while and then we all went home to sleep soundly and safely in our own beds.

Roommate Reunion

Yesterday,  my roommate Tina, from way back in the day, was in town.  We were able to spend the afternoon with her and her family.  It was so good to see her again.

We had a little picnic lunch

Then we went back to our house and the kids immediately started playing Minecraft.

It was a fun afternoon.  The kids had a great time together.
We enjoyed spending time with their family and catching up.

Flashback/Flashforward Friday: Visitors Times Two

Flashback: Dallas Texas 1981ish
Cynthia is on the left in the blue dress above and she is holding David in her arms.  Alisha is in the bottom right corner with the dark blue dress on.  I'm on the front row, third from the left in the blue dress and my mom, Kay, is right above me in the dark blue dress.  I guess blue was the new black that year.  My sister Lauren wasn't born yet.

Last Sunday, my Aunt Cynthia (My Dad's Sister) and her son David, were in town visiting my cousin Alisha.   We had them over for dinner.  It was so good to see them all.  Addy was happy to have friends her age to play with.

Aunt Cynthia wanted a picture of our family.  Addy wouldn't be serious so she promised her we could do a silly picture if she would give her a nice picture.  You can see the silly picture below.

My family with our dear friends, the Hastings.  The Snows and the Hastings used to hang out together all the time when we were growing up.  Lauren and Jessica have been BFF's since birth.  You can see them sitting together in the middle of the couch above.

We had bonus guests while Aunt Cynthia and here family were here.  Jessica called Lauren to tell her she was passing through on their way from Idaho to Dallas and wanted to stop by to say hi.  So we also got to visit with her and her husband Nate.

We had a fun filled few weeks.  The Sunday before this we said goodbye to my Sister in Law, Teresa, and baby Alaina and that evening welcomed The Hobbs family.  Then the next Sunday we said goodbye to the Hobbs and that evening spent time with more family and friends.  We love all the visitors we get every summer!

Hobbitses Days 6&7: Family, Birthdays and Saying Goodbye

Saturday, July 6, 2013
On Saturday, the Steve's went man shopping.  Heather took all the girls girl shopping.  And I stayed home with the boys who played video games all day.  That evening we went to Steve and Heather's Aunt Callie's house.  It was her Birthday and she invited us all over for dinner.  Callie is Steve's Mother's Sister.  It was fun to get together and see them again.  They moved to Utah from Colorado last March and Jake and Sarah lived with us for a while before their house was ready to move into so they could go to school.  We haven't seen them since they moved out.

Addy  loved playing with the Lego table.  Once she found it she didn't want to leave it.  We had to drag her away from it when it was time to leave.

A whole week, come and gone just like that.  We had so much fun and are so glad we were able to spend time with Steve and Heather and their family.  They woke up early Sunday morning and started making their way back home to Missouri.  It was sad to say goodbye.

We tried to talk them into leaving this one for the rest of the summer.
