Monday Morning Musings

♦So I got up around 3:30 this morning to feed Addison and I turned on the TV and there was a documentary about synchronized swimming on. It was one of those things where I kept saying, "why the heck am I watching this???" but on the other hand I was going, "these people are such freakazoids I can't stop watching them". Don't get me wrong. My sisters and I used to get in the pool and make up SS (that means sync. swimming dad, nothing to do with the Nazis) routines when we were growing up. But I have to tell you that EVERY PERSON they interviewed was just a tad bit "off". And that is quite possibly putting it mildly.

♦The final Design Star recorded last night while I was sleeping. I have this dilemma. Do I watch it now so I can see who won, or wait for Emily to get home from school and watch it with her? (ARRGGHHH!!! What was I thinking? I just went to the website to get the link to put on here and it had the winner on it! STUPID!)

♦We drove out to our property yesterday and there is an actual paved street now!!!

♦Just how embarrassing would it be if I posted those hula hoop pictures???

♦Aubrey walked in the room this morning and said something to me and I swear it was Farrah 25 years ago.

♦Conversation in my kitchen this morning:
Zac: Mom, are we walking to school today?
Me: Yes.
Zac: Good, I think walking to school is my favorite part of the school year.
Emily: You know what my favorite part is? Going to recess and lying in the grass. I can take a nap and not have anyone singing to wake me up, just the bell.
Me: You know, there are a lot of children in this world who would love to have their mother sing to them to wake them up every morning.
Zac: Yeah, well maybe they don't know how annoying it is.
Me: GASP!!!

scott sings to me in the morning because he knows how much
it pisses me off (he did it this morning). I prefer to be awakened by a gentle rub on my back and a simple and quiet, "it is time to get up." then i prefer to be left alone a couple minutes and then one more gentle wake up and then i am up.

You should try it with your kids. maybe you will get a happier response. Not that i think singing is bad. but nobody likes a singer whne they are so tired

Don't stick up for them. Seriously. I bet there are kids (and wives) out there who would give anything to be woken up by a song from a loving mother (or husband) every morning.

However, I can see how it could be annoying. Just don't tell my kids I said that.

the conversation is so funny! made me laugh!
Steve wakes me up every morning at 5:35 so I can make him breakfast before he is off to teach seminary. He just grabs my foot/toes and gives a little wiggle. Then I am up! I like it because I have nothing to complain about cause he did not say anything. I don't like to be asked to wake up.

Just don't even wake me up! But if you are going to, I am like Kristy, gentle rub on the back and a quiet "it's time to wake up" is the technique Bart as had to master. This is how I wake Gabe up because he is a lot like me.

Kathy I am impressed you get up and make your dh breakfast. That wouldn't be happening at my house. If I ever have to get up that early Bart always comments, "Man, this is a rare occurence. I get to see 5 a.m. Farrah." To which I give a lovely look.

I too want to see hula hoop pictures. Mom told me all about it.

Allyson- I saw the same documentary when Oscar was 1st born, they were very strange people. I had a good laugh at them.
Also, you're totaly turning into your Mom with the singing in the morning thing!

Kathy- You get up at 5:35 to make your husband breakfast!? Hello cereal! I hope he know's how lucky he is.

Thanks Coren. For the "you're totally turning into your mom" thing. I hadn't thought of it that way before.

And Steve always like to remind me of when we were first married and he worked at UPS and I would get up and make him breakfast every morning. He asks why I don't do that anymore. My answer? I BORE 4 CHILDREN FOR YOU! ISN'T THAT ENOUGH!

Oh, Kristy got in trouble from her Daddy.

Allyson, that is such a Tolman thing to do. Unfortunately I find myself turning into MY mom and singing "Wake up Jacob, father shot a bear". No one in my house is named Jacob and who the heck made up that song!? I hated it when my mom used to sing to me to get me up. I don't know why I feel the need to torture my kids with the singing. I am not a morning person. I am with Farrah - don't even try to wake me up!

Kathy - Did I forget about you being a morning person? I think that is great that you do that for your husband. Pedro will be jealous when I tell him.
