It's 9:00 AM. I just sent my two oldest children to school. I am completely and utterly exhausted. My day is just beginning.
We are having an open house tomorrow. Last night I told my kids if I took them to their school carnival, they had to wake up early this morning and help me clean the house. So I woke them up early. And I made them clean. And it nearly killed me.
It would be so much easier and faster if I just cleaned the darn house myself. I would definitely be more sane right now. But then I would be raising lazy kids who don't know how to work. And I don't want lazy kids who don't know how to work.
Could someone please come and teach my kids how to work? Oh, and while you're at it, I have a TON of laundry that needs to be done.
Now this song is stuck in my head:

Good for you making your kids clean!
I have the same problem. I've been trying to get ready for a visit from my parents. I think I'll just lock the kids in their bedroom for the last 2 hours before they get here so that at least the rest of the house will stay clean for more than 5 seconds.
By the way, I hope the open house went well!
Good! Put those children to work. Crack that whip.
You actually should do the index card method mom did with us. That works great for Gabe. He has concrete idea of what he has to get done. He can do whatever jobs he wants in whatever order he wants. That way he has some control and it doesn't make me crazy always having to tell him what to do. I pick out the cards he has to do and off he goes!
If cleaning was open ended it makes it harder for him to do because he feels like he will have to do it forever. Does that make sense?
Any ways, good luck with the open house. That is always fun.
By the way, I love that song.
Can a four year old do her own laundry?? I wish she could maybe she would limit her outfit changing to twice a day max.
My mom did everything for us. When I first got married, I told Jeremy the dryer was broken. It was taking two hours plus to get our clothes dry. He emptied the lint trap. It was so full and caked in there, it was nasty. I didn't know to change the lint trap, I had never done my own laundry. Even when I lived in my own apt. I had it done at the cleaners.
Now, I do ten plus loads a week.
Hope the open house goes well.
Farrah, that would require some effort and organization on my part. Plus this wasn't regular cleaning. This was, quick, people are commin to look at the house and every single room is a disaster, kind of cleanin.
