Back 2 School 2011

Last Friday was the last weekday of freedom for these children for the next 9 months or so. HA!Who am I kidding? They get a million days off during the school year. I was just writing the days off on my calendar for the next year and it's crazy. They go back from the Christmas break and then a week and a half later BAM! 2 days off. What's up with that? But I digress. Last Friday. So I decided to let the kids have a few friends over to roast hot dogs and marshmallows around the fire and enjoy their last day of summer. They did and they had a fun time.

Zac and Gus who graced us with their presence long enough to stuff their faces and then make a quick exit to play video games.

And then came Monday. The first day of school. Zac started 8th grade. He survived his first year of Jr. High and is ready to go back for more. His friend Gus' brother passed away in a car accident last month and everyone at Zac's school wore pink the first day to remember him and his pink Van shoes he always wore.

Emily is in sixth grade. Her last year in Elementary School!

Aubrey started third grade. This is her fourth year in the Spanish Immersion Program. Hola chica!

Little Miss Addy. She still has one more year at home with her momma before she starts Kindergarten.

Making our way to school for the opening Flag Ceremony

And the moms celebrate by going out to breakfast!

I must say, this year was different for me. I feel like the summer just flew by us. I was both ready and not ready for the kids to go back to school. I wouldn't have minded a few more weeks of summer. But alas, they are in school and it is back to regular life.
